The working principle of a high-voltage diode is based on the properties of semiconductor materials. When a forward voltage is applied, the potential barrier of the PN junction is overcome, allowing charge carriers (electrons and holes) to move freely, thus enabling current to flow.
However, when a reverse voltage is applied, the potential barrier of the PN junction rises, almost preventing current flow, thereby achieving rectification. This characteristic makes high-voltage diodes widely used in power conversion, telecommunications, and industrial control fields.
