Withstand voltage is the primary indicator of a high-voltage rectifier, representing the maximum reverse voltage the device can withstand, usually specified as VRRM (Maximum Repetitive Reverse Peak Voltage) or VRWM. When selecting a diode, the normal operating voltage of the system should not be lower than 70%~80% of the rated voltage, with at least a 20%~30% margin allowed, and transient voltages such as surges and overvoltages must be considered. For extremely high-voltage applications, multiple diodes may need to be connected in series and a voltage equalization circuit may be required.

 

Forward current represents the average rectified current capability of a diode under specific conditions. Selection must ensure that IF(AV) has at least a 30%~50% margin, and surge current parameters should be considered. The cooling system must be sufficient to support full-load operation of the device; otherwise, excessive temperature rise will lead to derating.
